Parent Governor Vacancy

We currently have a vacancy for a Parent Governor on the school Governing Board.

All parents/carers of Bishop King pupils are eligible for this role and we invite nominations - either by a parent/carer for themself or to nominate another parent/carer (but please check with this person before going ahead).

Please see the information attached about the process:  parent/carer letter, nomination form, eligibility for the role.

Nominations should be sent to the Clerk to the Governors, either hand-delivered to the school office or by email to clerk.governors@bishopking.lincs.sch.uk

The closing date for nominations is 12 noon on Thursday 24th September 2020.

Qualifications and disqualifications to stand as a School Governor

Governors

School Governors make important collective decisions and the Governing Board is answerable to parents and the community. The responsibilities of the Governing Board include:

  • promoting high standards of education and achievement
  • planning the school's long-term future
  • setting the school's aims and values
  • appointing senior staff including the Headteacher
  • budgetary allocation and control
  • deciding on the number of staff to be employed
  • making sure that the curriculum is broad and balanced
  • considering how the school will ensure that all pupils have access to the full range of extended services.

There are 13 school Governors, 2 of whom are appointed by a ballot of parents.
